Carmel Brennan, B.A., B.Ed., OSA

Born in Birmingham, England, of Irish parents, Carmel Brennan has been a professional artist since the early 1970’s. A teacher of Visual Arts for over 40 years, she involves herself in various arts organizations and societies. She was President of the Ontario Society of Artists from 2010 until 2013.  Carmel curated three major exhibitions of the Uxbridge Artist Collective from 2009 to 2012, called Work from Heart Mind & Hand, and received an Ontario Arts Council grant for a catalogue on this same project.

Carmel is very active exhibiting her own photography, painting & printmaking, in commercial and public galleries.  She loves to travel especially if it involves being on foot!  As a pilgrim she has walked the 800 kilometres Camino de Santiago (Spain) in 2011 and in 2013 the 750 kilometre Via Podiensis (France) and the 120 kilometre Camino Ingles (Spain). Walking inspires her. In 2015 she walked part of the Camino Norte and plans to return in 2020.

Carmel Brennan’s studio in Sunderland, Ontario, is open to visitors annually, on the third weekend of September, as part of the Uxbridge Studio Tour.
