Carmel Brennan, B.A., B.Ed.,M.A.
Born in Birmingham, UK, Carmel holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Art and Archaeology. A retired teacher of Visual Arts, she is a Past President of the Ontario Society of Artists and has curated major exhibitions for the Uxbridge Artist Collective from 2009 to 2018, called, Work from Heart Mind & Hand. In 2020 she curated an exhibition called, Beyond the Walls at the Aurora Cultural Centre, and the 2021 exhibition, The Conversation. In 2022, she curated Breath.Heart.Spirit OSA 150 years, at the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario at Queens Park, Toronto. Her other exhibitions are focused on a project, organized and curated by Carmel, Letters to the Earth: Between Despair and Hope at the Aurora Cultural Centre, (2023) the Georgina Centre for Arts & Culture (2024), the Station Gallery in Whitby (2024) and Newmarket’s Old Town Hall in 2025. Future exhibitions are scheduled until 2027.

Carmel Brennan’s studio in Sunderland, Ontario, is open to visitors annually, on the third weekend of September, as part of the Uxbridge Studio Tour .
