Carmel Brennan, B.A., B.Ed., OCT, OSA
Born in Birmingham, England, of Irish parents, Carmel Brennan has been a professional artist since the early 1970’s. A teacher of Visual Arts, she involves herself in various arts organizations and societies. A former President of the Ontario Society of Artists, Carmel has curated five major exhibitions of the Uxbridge Artist Collective from 2009 to 2018, called Work from Heart Mind & Hand, and received an Ontario Arts Council grant for a catalogue on this same project. In 2020 she curated an exhibition called, BEYOND THE WALLS; however it was totally virtual due to the global pandemic, as was the 2021 group exhibition, The Conversation. Look for her major environmental project in 2023 and 2024, Letters to the Earth: Between Despair and Hope. Carmel will be curating the creative work of over 70 participants. Events will be held in Newmarket, Aurora, Whitby, Hamilton and also in the UK.
Carmel Brennan’s studio in Sunderland, Ontario, is open to visitors annually, on the third weekend of September, as part of the Uxbridge Studio Tour .
